Trapping and sealing go together
Trapping removes the rats or mice that are already inside. Sealing closes the gaps they used to get in. If you only trap, new rodents can follow the same path. If you only seal, rodents can get stuck inside the walls. Most lasting fixes use both, in that order.
Mice can fit through a gap about 1/4 inch wide. Rats can fit through about 1/2 inch. Good sealing uses hard materials that rodents cannot chew through, like hardware cloth, sheet metal, mortar, and steel or copper mesh packed with sealant.
Homes and small businesses
Calls come from houses, apartments, garages, sheds and small businesses like shops, offices and restaurants. Food businesses may have their own health rules to follow, so mention that on the call. If you rent, tell your landlord or property manager too.
