Rodent Control in Planeview, Wichita, KS
Neighborhood in southeast Wichita
Planeview is a southeast Wichita neighborhood near McConnell Air Force Base, built starting in 1942 to house World War II aircraft workers.
Construction on Planeview began in 1942, at the same time as nearby Beechwood. It had about 2,000 housing units and was designed to be temporary. It has lasted much longer than planned, and KMUW notes that aging buildings remain a challenge for residents, landowners and local officials.
Housing that was built fast and meant to be short-lived tends to develop more gaps as it ages. Siding can pull away at the base, doors and frames shift, and utility lines get patched and re-run over the years. Mice and rats use those openings. If you rent, repairs to the building itself usually fall to the owner.
If you rent in Planeview and see droppings, chewed food or rats in the yard, tell your landlord in writing and keep a copy with the date. If nothing gets fixed, the City of Wichita's housing inspectors take complaints. The reporting guide explains how.
